Tot Spot: My attempt to try something new everyday with my toddler! - # 2: Pipe cleaners in a strainer

Pipe Cleaners

Today we had a very long day! We spent the afternoon at Hailey's mimi's house which meant no nap and lots and lots of fun! I got to go to the farmers market and do some shopping while Hailey spent time playing in the yard. Mimi made us cheeseburgers, hotdogs, and corn on the cob, YUMMY! My mom is awesome at spoiling Hail. She has EVERYTHING at her house! Hailey spent the day exploring her yard, sliding down her sliding board, playing in her sandbox, cooking in her kitchen, pushing her baby stroller, pushing her grocery cart, and playing with my mom's dog, Spanky. After we left my moms, we went to visit Mommom Josie, Hailey's great-grandmother. We had fun playing there and finally made it home a little after 7:00. Just enough time for a very fun and very crazy bubble bath and some cool down time before bed. We have a routine where after our bath we spent time in Hailey's room playing quietly and getting ready to settle in for the night. Tonight we decided try try something new and we played with pipe cleaners and my strainer!
Putting our pipe cleaners in the holes!
This activity helps Hailey's fine motor development and it is fun and engaging. She took the pipe cleaners and stuck them in the holes of the strainer. This occupied her for about 10-15 minutes.
Daddy is playing too!
Hailey then decided she wanted ALL the pipe cleaners to herself (although she was nice enough to let daddy play with some too!). She did keep putting them in the holes for a little while longer before deciding she wanted to simply carrying the clump of pipe cleaners around her room.
Puppy leash!
Then all of daddy's hard work paid off and Hailey got to enjoy the puppy leash her daddy made her. The pictures were all blurry because she was bopping around her room saying "woof woof" and she led her favorite stuffed friend around for his walk!

All-in-all, this activity was definitely worth it! It is something that was cheap, easy, and Hailey enjoyed. It is versatile and I think we are going to have a lot of fun with pipe cleaners in the future!
